I want a camcorder to use with iMovie. I will use it for home video as well as video shot on a tripod for work--the idea being that I am going to shoot some marketing videos with the camera with me at my office explaining some aspects of the law to potential clients, editing in iMovie, and then burning to DVD for people to watch on their DVD player. I have read reviews of Sony, Canon, Panasonic. Price is the major factor here--I'd like to stay in the 300 dollar range. Is a 1 MP video camera good enough? I want to make sure the camera has a microphone jack so I can wear a lapel microphone to make sure everything is clear on the audio side of things. I want something that is sort of standard TV quality, obviously do not want motor noise. Should I go with a miniDV? Hard drive based, DVD based? For my camcorder PVGS15, I would like to purchase a cheap microphone that would cut out excess ambience. I was thinking of the Griffin Lapel Mic multipurpose stereo microphone for camcorder sold by fry's electronics, but am not sure if the microphone would be able to pick up better sound then the built in mic.
